Greyscale #73 takes us back down under with a visit to Australian producer Taction. Last time he was on the Mood Series we couldn't get enough of his hypnotic and deep workouts. This time is no different. 'Removal' has some sweet techno on it. Riding the ridge of what dub techno is and what deep techno can be. 'By And By' resonates in the low frequencies with most of the chord work while the laying on top is all crisp tech work. There is just enough tension to unease the listener making this a great track to build a set with. This will surely have you wanting more...even if that means putting this on repeat for multiple plays. 'My Body Is Flesh But My Soul Is Eternal' is drenched in heavy processing. Synthetic and all-consuming, it over takes your sense until the mid-point when a wonderful melody escapes the murkiness. A timeless sound without a doubt. Pure brilliance.
Lastly, what can be said about 'Something Deep'? Surprising, is the tempo that this one moves at. Sounding like a late 90's James Zeiter influenced peak timer. But to say this is deep is an understatement. This is much more than that. 'Removal' succeeds in so many ways. After hearing this, we already can't wait for another visit from Taction to the Greyscale camp. Taction is killing it!
