Francisco Aguado isn't new to the Mood Series and in fact, he's certainly been one if not the most reoccurring artist. 'Around The Far Away' is Francisco's 6th visit and each time we receive the next we are reminded why. Mood Series is a heavyweight of intense percussive 90's style minimal techno.
'Falling' begins a prime-time dub techno burner that means business. A very minimal approach makes the slight changes a real treat. What can be said about 'Spiral' ?! A serious banger that reminds of a hard-nosed version of early James Zeiter work. Some downright sickness to DJ with we can imagine. 'Line' slows it down a bit with a more reserved approach that feels Detroit class finding a great balance of groove and atmosphere. 'Point' lays low in airy loop of echoed out haze feeling like its dub with a dub. Working itself is the allure as rhythm's collide in cascades of aural pleasure. 'Laps' is sure to be a favorite of more traditional style dub techno fans. Its chords ever-evolving while keeping a steady beat is the formula for lots of deep listening. With a running time nearing 50 minutes on this release, you get more than an EP's worth of great techno. You get quality and quantity from Mr. Aguado. Mood Series #76 delivers the goods!
