Altone's 'Ground Surface' is the brand new Greyscale addition to its top tier Mood Series. Altone is back with his fourth installment and this one packs a punch! The title track is a bruiser! Featuring long delays of granular chords and wall shaking bass frequencies, it's sure to please the veterans of the dub techno experience. 'Diffused Reflection' is well balanced in minimalism that is as equally spatial as it is catchy. Classic dub sounds and very DJ friendly! Perhaps saving the deepest for last, Altone brings us 'Elementary Particle' which is a mid-tempo churner that hypnotizes! It rides a broad rhythmic pattern underlying a constant force field of static resistance. This EP has it all! Three excursions that showcases Altone is a true talent in the field. Greyscale Mood Series #24 is another showstopper!

Something is mysterious about this recording. I put it on and soon after a breeze came up and wind chimes on the porch started ringing in such a way to sound as if they live in the recording. An instant mix variant! And then the groove came in and the chimes stopped and then the breeze abated. Musical alchemy at it's highest form. I hope it is as mystical for you too. Listen for the hidden voices and the airbrakes on the el-train I think are in the deep mix. Awesome as always! Biff Johnson and Shelley Andrews
